Champion Taps

Champion® 308 High Speed Hand Taps perform consistently in production set-ups and are designed for general purpose tapping in a variety of materials. They are supplied in standard “H” limits that will provide an adequate “class of fit” for standard tapping applications. Please specify P (Plug), T (Taper), or B (Bottom) when ordering. Please refer to the chart below.
P- Plug taps, most commonly used, distribute the load across 3-5 threads of chamfer
T- Taper taps distribute the load across 7-10 threads. Used for starting a threaded hole.
B- Bottom taps have only 1 to 1-1/2 threads of chamfer. Used to tap to the bottom of a blind hole.
Champion® 321 Spiral Point Taps are commonly referred to as “gun” taps. Spiral point taps cut with a shearing action that “shoots” the chip ahead of the tap. Supplied in standard “H” limits and the most common plug style. Engineered specifically for tapping of “through holes” or deep blind holes where a shoulder exists for chips to collect.
Champion® DT22 Drill & Tap combo creates holes and taps in a single operation. No center drilling or punching is required.
