There is a fast and easy way.... Commercial door hardware installers routinely drill and tap holes in hollow metal doors and frames for fastening hydraulic closers, exit devices and other specified hardware. "Tapping" cuts internal threads in the holes to receive machine screws and has been traditionally done by first drilling and then tapping by hand with the appropriate tap chucked in a tap wrench. To drill and tap in a single operation use a Champion DT22 Combination Drill & Tap. The DT22 has an exclusive taper neck design that significantly reduces drill and tap breakage. The 118° helical point permits holes and threads to be cut at relatively high speeds. There is no need for center drilling or punching and no special holders or collets are required. This product is packaged individually in diameters 6-32 through ½”-13 and is also available in a handy set. ![]() ![]() |
